A day that will live in infamy

Similarly to the first World War, the United States entered into World War 2 later then the rest of the participating countries. However, unlike with World War 1 the reason for the United States entering into the war was due to a direct attack on the naval base of Pearl Harbor by the Japanese. This attack occurred December seventh in 1941 and was followed by the then president, Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Following the surprise attack by the Japanese, the next day Roosevelt declared war on Japan after giving the following speech.
